Tuesday and Friday: Bach at the Prussian CourtCarl Philipp Emanuel, the most well-known son of Johann Sebastian Bach, spent 28 years as a harpsichordist at the court of Frederick the Great. Good reason for dedicating a concert programme to the works of Bach, where virtuous compositions from different concerts and profane cantatas will be performed. In addition to the concert we will offer our guests the chance of combining the musical experience with an optional candlelight dinner, created according to the culinary preferences of the Prussian court’s kitchen. PROGRAMME: Saturday: Masterpeices from Baroque and Early ClassicismThis festive programme featuring the Berlin Palace Orchestra and its solo vocalists revolves around selected composers of Prussian Court music. In addition to a symphonie by Frederick II, works by court composers such as the royal flute instructor Johann Joachim Quantz and the court director of music Carl Heinrich Graun will be performed. |
